Microchipping

Microchipping Price: £12.00 per animal

Discounts for multiple animals: If you are a mulit-pet family, the price will be £12.00 for the first pet, and then £10.00 per additional pet after that.

We carry both standard and mini microchips. The mini chips are smaller in size, and therefore kinder for any small dogs, cats or kittens, birds and rabbits. The mini microchips still hold the same level of information and protection when registered, as a full sized microchip.

However, if you’re not sure of anything, please feel free to ask us. We’re here to help.

Your pet is a very special member of your family. Microchipping is a simple but very effective way of a lost pet being reunited with the family. It gives owners peace of mind. If you would like your pet microchipped while he/she is with us in boarding we will be happy to arrange it. Or, please telephone us to make an appointment.

What is a microchip

A simple injection gives lifetime protection. A microchip makes permanent identification of your pet simple. The microchip, the size of a grain of rice, takes just seconds to implant by either a veterinary surgeon or a trained professional. The before and after cuddle takes much longer than the chip being implanted.

Microchipping animals offers permanent irrefutable proof of identity.

How it works

The microchip is implanted under the skin of the animal, (between the shoulder blades in the case of dogs and cats). The chip carries a unique number. When you request your pet to be microchipped your personal details such as name, address, telephone number, emergency number etc., together with your pets description and details, are recorded onto the Petlog database which is run by The Kennel Club. You will receive written confirmation of registration.

If your pet has any medical conditions this, together with medication,  should also be recorded. This will help to ensure that your pet can be assessed quickly by a vet and any emergency treatment can be administered. If your pet does have a medical condition it is also adivisable to list the name of your vet together with the telephone number.

If the unthinkable happens and your pet goes missing, you should immediately report it to Petlog on 0844 463 3999 and in the case of dogs also contact your local authority dog warden service.

Microchipping can also save you a considerable amount of money on kenneling fees and local authority fees. Please, do protect your pet and give yourself peace of mind.

Please also be aware that the law now states that as well as being microchipped your pet must wear an identity tag,
